Expectations

The second grade continues to teach a biblical worldview in Bible class, and also starts to put the reading skills that have been taught in first grade to work throughout all the other subject areas. Social studies, science, math and spelling all have a greater amount of reading, and therefore will be more developed than the previous year.

Second Grade Curriculum

• Bible: Summit
• Math: Saxon
• Language Arts: Saxon Phonics, Open Court, Accelerated Reader (AR), and sentence building handouts
• Handwriting: Zaner-Bloser
• Science: Purposeful Design
• Social Studies: BJU Press and teacher developed units
• Special Classes: art, music, computer, PE and library enrichment time
